About the Lighting Committee...

Cllr Mike Harriman, Chair of the Lighting Committee, and Cllr Janet Holmes, Vice-Chair

Mike H And Janet

The Lighting Committee looks after the street lights which are the responsibility of the Community Council. The Lighting Committee was set up essentially as a task-and-finish-group to research and effect the replacement of the SOX sodium vapour lanterns with LED units on those footway lighting columns for which GCC has responsibility.

When we first took on this task it was a lot of work to set up, but we now have a plan in place which runs fairly smoothly. This includes planning and budgeting for when things go wrong and for replacing pillars as needed (that’s right – they don’t last for ever!) As a result, the Lighting Committee now only meets when there is a specific issue to discuss/resolve.

We have a specific Lighting page if you want to find out more.
