Frequently Asked Questions
All council meetings are open to the public, and you can find more information on what the council discusses in the Meetings of the Full Council section of this website. Meeting agendas give you an accurate picture of the things the Community Council is due to discuss; based on this information, you might decide you’d like to attend a meeting. If you want to join us contact our Clerk, Camilla. You can ‘phone her on 07470 631184 and eMail her on clerk@gresfordcommunitycouncil.gov.uk
The contact details for each councillor can be found in the Your Councillors section of this website. You can also find other information that we are obliged to published such as Declarations of Interest – where Councillors make clear if they have a connection to an issue which is due to be discussed – and any payments made to Councillors.
You can find all the dates for Council and Committee meetings in the Meetings Calendar. We have Committees which deal with finance, general village amenities, the cemetery and village lighting. Before COVID meetings were generally held in the Gresford Trust Memorial Hall, and the Gresford Methodist Church Hall, alternating between the two. Since COVID all meetings have been on line. The Full Council meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of every month (apart from August, when people tend to be on holiday) and they usually begin at 6.30pm. Committee start times vary – check out the calendar of meetings for info on this. Members of the public are always welcome to attend any of these meetings except for the occasional issue which is judged to need to be kept private; these are called Part II items and are fairly unusual – they tend to relate to people’s salaries or health – that kind of thing. Members of the public can speak on an issue for up to five minutes (this is the Chair’s decision) before a meeting properly begins so, if you feel you want to make a contribution like this, you can. If you want to join us at any of our meetings – to speak or just to listen – contact our Clerk, Camilla. You can ‘phone her on 07470 631184 and eMail her on clerk@gresfordcommunitycouncil.gov.uk
You can find information on the decisions that have been made in the Meetings of the Full Council section of this website.
If you are interested in the work of our Committees you should have a look at the page set up for the specific Committee you are interested in. Go to the ‘Your Council’ header and slide down to Committee Meetings. The four Committee pages then appear in boxes on the screen and you can choose whichever one you are interested in – everything relating the that Committee can be found on its own dedicated page.
Remember that the Minutes of meetings don’t tell you every little thing that was said; they are intended to provide an accurate record of the actions to be taken and the decisions the Community Council has made.
Gresford Community Council is responsible for the maintenance and management of the Gresford Cemetery. You can find more information on the Cemetery page and also by visiting the Cemetery Committee page.
Our assistant Clerk, Steve, looks after the cemetery so he is a good place to start. You can eMail him on asstclerk@gresfordcommunitycouncil.gov.uk
